I bought a used PS2 with a few games. Have realized that I am too lazy, old, digitally challenged for anything but the most simplest of games. The games I have require one to press to many buttons or work out to much kanji.
Can anybody recommend a game in Japan that has NO japanese in it AT ALL. Total fun and one that doesnt need a PHD in gameplay to get going. I am from a generation that played Pacman and Donkey kong.
Looking forward to your ideas. |

Packman and all those oldschool games are available for PS2 but there will be some Japanese. |

Devil May Cry 2
For some odd reason this game has all English voices with Japanese subtitles.
Quite a fun game if you are into action rpg's. |

Thanks for the replies. Sorry, I didnt mean I want to play those old games, only that left, right and jump are about the limit of my gaming skills. I've played the arcade section of Gran Turismo for hours and loved it, but the other games Ive got; got about as far as the first kanji instruction. |

My recommendations for simple fun gaming on the PS2:
REZ - It doesn't get much simpler than this game. There is only one button to worry about (shoot) and it's an on-rails shooter (the game moves you through the level in one direction, you need only worry about shooting what is in front of you). REZ is a shooting game with a phenomenal soundtrack. It's also extremely cheap, you can pick up a copy for about 1000yen. All the menus are in English.
Katamari Damarcy - Again, very simple to control. My girlfriend hates games because they are usually difficult to control but she loves this game. There is some Japanese in this game but you don't need to understand any of it to have fun. Just look for the cover with a rainbow, a large ball collecting buildings and a cow on the front.
Gradius V - A great 2D shooting game. Very easy to control but also very difficult to beat. If you have played any of the past Gradius games then you should have no problems with this game. All menus and instructions are in English. |

Rorschach, those games look great. Thanks. I only like to play a game for about 30 mins a day so these pick up and go games are just up my street.
Anybody know where I can pick these (REZ, katamarri Damarcy, Gradius V) up cheap in Osaka? |

I recommend God of War. I'm 33 and a gaming retard but I fnished it in about a week and had a lot of fun along the way. One of the best games out on PS2. |

Katamari Damarcy and Gradius V should be easy to get. A place like Yodobashi Camera in Umeda or Bic Camera in Shinsaibashi should have them. REZ shouldn't be difficult to get at those places as well but I know Sofmap in Tennoji has copies (it's in the station). |

Yeah, Katamari Damacy (Damashii) totally rules! I bought it and I don't even own a PS2. If you can get an English version, it's a lot funnier cuz you can understand it, but I'm sure it's rad either way. And the soundtrack is awesome. |
