Hi
I wonder if anyone to help me? I'm thinking of working in Spain for the 2005-6 year but don't want to work in anywhere with too many foreigners eie.Barcelona or Madrid!! I have been thinking of Bilbao but can't find any information on the internet!about schools there, surely there must be some!! Any suggestions?
Also I don't have a degree but I do have CELTA and some expericence. All the jobs I've seen advertised require dgrees. how strict ar schools usually about asking to see certificates, could I, heaven fordid, lie about my "degree"'?
well thank you all for reading this and I hope somebody replys!!

I dont mean to sound rude, but in case you werent clear about this Spain is full of foreigners, everywhere, really. Why do you want to avoid foreigners anyway? Probably to learn Spainish, for which I cant blame you, but dont forget, being abroad isnt just about the local people you meet, its often also about people who become lifelong friends, even from your own country, who youd never normally have met at home.
And lie about the degree. |

You could just live in a really small city and give "clases particulares." You'll make more than in an academy and travel time won't be so bad. Where are there fewer foreigners? Anywhere where there isn't a huge university and/or a beach. Jaen, Ciudad Rodrigo, Valladolid, Burgos, Caceres, and pretty much any village or new "urbanizacion."
There are a bunch of jobs being advertised on tefl.com in small cities around Spain, but you might have to have a degree. It never hurts to try, though. |

I live in Madrid but you won't find so many English speakers outside the centre unless you look particularly hard for them. In my barrio I jump out of my skin when I hear someone speaking English. Maybe 10-20% of the people are Latin-American, African, Chinese or East European but the lingua franca is most definitely Spanish. |
