|
|
Hi,
I'm planning to go to Spain to look for English teaching work in September and am hoping to persuade my girlfriend to come with me. The major obstacle of her doing this is what job she could get when she's over there.
She hasn't got an english teaching cert and her spanish is pretty basic so I understand the odds are against her but I just wondered if anyone had any ideas of what she could do over there... Anyone have any friends who've managed to go over there and find work?
She's a graduate, although I don't suppose that makes much difference if she can't speak the language very well.
Any suggestions at all would be appreciated.
cheers

If shes native English shell still be able to pick up teaching work come September, especially if shes prepared to do private kids lessons. My Spanish ex also taught kids English after work for extra money, so even non-native is possible if she doesnt mind being a glorified child-minder. |

OK, just actually read the title of your post: is it that your girlfriend doesnt want to teach, or just she doesnt have the certificate? |

She hasn't got any certificate and we both assumed that if she didn't she wouldn't be able to teach and so were considering other jobs..
Is there a good possiblitiy of her finding teaching work with a school or two if she comes looking with me in September? or would it mainly have to be private lessons?
The plan is to go to one of the bigger towns/cities, Barcalona, Seville, Valencia. So hopefully there will be alot of work availible come the autumn. |

Come to Madrid: its much harder in other cities to get a foothold, and forget Barcelona - the world and his dog want to go there and they do have working papers and certificates. You didnt mention if youre EU or illegal, but in any case Id recommend getting started here. |
