HaHa! Made you look!
I find most Bush Bashing almost as cliche and irrelevant as I do anything said in his defense. Does the blatant obviousness of the situation of the American government really matter to our nice little forum? No. It matters to the fate of the world somehow but that doesn't teach my girlfriend how to say "My Uncle is a General" in Spanish". It doesn't get me to Machu Pichu before everyone else at half-price. It doesn't make a bunch of children who speak no English appreciate Shakespeare, "The Grapes of Wrath" or Blackalicious.
It might matter if Bush decides that Venezuala is an "enemy of liberty and freedom"...or anywhere else in GENERAL LATIN AMERICA. But for now it may do all of us more good to teach and learn about GENERAL LATIN AMERICANish stuff, don't ya think?
Sorry to rain on the parade. I'm also sorry if I am repeating what has already been said, I didn't have much patience to skim the 12 friggin' pages of inspired, objective, philosophical and political debate. Perhaps I would have been enlightened or perhaps, somewhere between Fox News, Jerry Falwell and a G-8 protest hacky sack session I have heard it all before. Maybe I am jaded... |

Wow, I can't wait to see a volcano. I am happy for you, Latin Hombre, you and anyone else with a headstart on me at living the Latin American experience. You are all lucky, most people never leave the shelter of their town, let alone country.
As for the theology of Latin Hombre...First of all, let's not take pot-shots at Van Gogh's sanity given all the crazy Popes and Jerry Falwells which litter the religious landscape of history. He made something beautiful which has not died in hundreds of years, not too many can do something so Godly. God is many things to many people. Applying a label like "Him" to a concept like God runs the high risk of over-simplifying (not that I find it entirely inappropriate). Oversimplification runs the high risk of breeding fundamentalism, which, as we all know, is the cancer eating away at the guts of faith and religion. I think a personal relationship with God or Jesus is a grand idea. "Christians" just need to be careful about how apply their idea of "Him" in the real world, for example:
Just ask yourself - WHO WOULD JESUS BOMB? I think that question puts things into perspective pretty well.
God Bless. |

I think that Paulie might actually be right about this one. Does all of our bickering on this forum really change anything or make the world a better place? |

Who would Jesus bomb? Chazzer, I think you're nuts. Keep it up- and if you're heading for Ecuador anytime soon, I owe you a beer.

Alas, Justin,
The Chazzer, who'd originally planned to do Cuenca, opted for Honduras. In retrospect it was rash (based on first-timer jitters with regards to Ecuador's political situation) but I now have a sweet contract and I'm sure Honduras will be just as mindblowing. |
