I have booked flights to go to hongkong ffrom september till march, and I'm going off travelling before on the 10 july. From there i'll get an internal flight thought i also know nothing about that!

Problem is - havent a contract yet!! I was going to lots of shoddy offers or intensive working weeks in iceage climes. grr. anyway, I might have one by July, or not. the embassy here in dublin is only open 3 mornings a week - may be difficult to get any visa!

What do you suggest? what are you meant to have - the Z visa? the resident worker or something? is a 30 day tourist visa my best bet???

any love?

thanks

Eva

You can't get a Z visa unless the school can send you the official documents needed to obtain a Z visa in Dubin. If the schools just want you to teach summer camps then there is a 99% chance that they will tell you to come with a L visa.

You could have done some research on this board and answered your questions by yourself... ...glad other posters have informed you of the essential.

My susgtgestion is to fly to HK, then apply for a tourist visa there (HK is visa-free). You can choose to get a single-entry, a multiple-entry, multi-month visa, - 3 months, 6 months, and more.
I would say 3 months would be your ideal choice (it would carry you right into the first month of the new term).
Attention: some claim the authorities don't grant work visas in the province in which THEY settled - check out that other thread about where tourist visas can be upgraded to work visas (which, incidentally, will be done away with, to be replaced by a single "resident's permit" that takes care of your visa and your other documents in future).

Have a look at this, if you haven't already.
