From what I understand its foreigner central for some companies like ECC. Some make you take on a room mate as well. If that's your sort of scene then by all means enjoy. I'm sure you'll find plenty of pubbing mates etc. Smile

I lived in Freebell for a long time, and was happy there. I mostly stayed, however, because it was EASY and I never knew how long I would stay in japan (though I am still here. . . .). I think if I had decided to stay in Nagoya forever, I would have found something else, but for a couple of years, I would recommend it to anyone.

The good:

1. No key money/deposit/guarantor. Some free cable. Fridge, washer, stove included.
2. I left two years ago, but the management there was great. They responded quickly to all my questions, and there are two English speaking staff in case you don't speak Japanese so well. There's a library in the office that's free, and they will assist with internet connection, as well as provide information on local events and sights. They'll even buy some furniture off you when you leave (since they furnish some apartments)
3. While it is noisy, the location is very convenient (10 mins from the station).
4. The apartments are clean and updated. I wouldn't say they're top of the line but they're liveable and I was happy in them. Tatami bedrooms.
5. I liked the community of people living there, and found it a comfortable place overall

The bad:

1. Some apartments have cockroachs, so in the summer months you'll have to stock up on traps and poison. They're gross and hard to get rid of, but not in every apartment oddly enough. I had one with them, one without. Not sure how to tell the difference initially.
2. Pidgeons. Noisy, gross, on nearly every balcony
3. The hallways outside the apartments resemble prisons......
4. If you will get irritated by loud gaigin having parties, and occasionally shooting fireworks off of their balconies, lots of newbies traipsing in and out of the building, you should not stay here. Weekend parties are a given.
5. The cheapest 1 bedroom is 85,000 so it's best to have a roommate (not a bad thing unless you really like living solo)
6. Sakura dori (noisy and busy on a regular basis) one side, trains on the other. I prefered the train side, but either way it's not going to be quiet and peaceful.

I think thats it. Good luck to you! Smile

one quick ammendment, as my reply was censored. The "beep" is in reference to roaches. The bugs. I guess I should be more careful with the first part of that word........ Laughing
