Hey everyone. First off, I am coming to Saigon in October to do the TEFL international course and I am getting so pumped.

I have a question about digital cameras. Should I get one that requires AA batteries or can I get one that reguires a plug in and therefore a convertor? Are convertors easily accessible in Saigon?

Thanks for helping the not-so-technically inclined

amy

regarding digital cameras

are they much cheaper than australia ( where i am currently ) i am looking at the canon S2IS and i can get it for about $700AUD. I would also be willing to get a Digital SLR for around that price if possible. So basically does anyone know what the camera market is like in vietnam as I plan to arrive there in a couple weeks with my head in my ass. Would it be cheaper in hong kong or singapore?

thanks

Sod it! I thought my Canon S1IS might be superseded soon, but not this soon! I got mine this year here in Vietnam for US$380, which is much cheaper than Canon's current Australian RRP of A$749 (digital cameras always seemed expensive in Oz).

Still, electronics (and for that matter most imported consumer items) are no bargain here. I'm sure you could get a much better deal in Hong Kong or Singapore if you had the time to shop around.
