The general consensus is that the ``no`` vote will win in France. Average French people (read: the proleteriat) fear being invaded by Poles/Turks and other ``undesirables`` should they vote ``Yes.``

French unity and culture is at stake for many, and the French already are tired of dealing with high crime statistics perpetrated to large extent by the growing North African population in France (Algerians/Moroccans/Tunisians). Many French erroneously consider Turks to be similar in culture and behaviour to the ``Maghreb`` population, when, fact is, they are very different.

Should the ``No`` vote win the day, the whole European process toward unity and harmony will be delayed and could take years to resolve, if ever.

Turkish people are saddened by this lamentable state of affairs, with good reason.

And now Angelika Merkel and the CDU are going to win in Germany. Thye are committed to a EU WITHOUT Turkey !

Time for Ankara to continue with Plan B - the reconstruction of the Ottoman Empire.

yes Turkey needs a Plan-b even a Plan-c....you know since 1923 we have been supported by the europeans especially about Cyprus,PKK and �So called Armenian Genocide problems...also European countries helped us alot to make our economy better.....what can we do without EU ...their presence is an undisputable asset to TUrkey and the Turkish people .....

The Dutch also said no. So I guess that will save Blair some embarrassment and give him a bit more time in office. Did you know that every eligible voter is sent the constitution that they simply have to say yes or no to? It is written in legalise and is over 500 pages. How many people who voted actually read it?

How silly of me. Turkey Teflers of course can`t afford French wine but thanks be to God, there are such great and cheap Turkish wines such as Guzel Marmara and Doluca. I even once saw my old Head of Department at our annual do order white wine and wait for it test the wine in front of the waiter before he was satisfied with the doluca. I of course took the sensible route and drank beer.

Apparently taxes on foreign wines have been reduced, so there have been some tolerable, if not downright drinkable, 10-15 YTL Italian, Chilean, and Spanish wines around. I heard tell of some Australian ones, but haven't found them yet. In response, the bigger Turkish wineries (like Doluca and Pamukkale) are putting out some different varieties in the 9-14YTL range, some of which I suspect have been aged as long as 45 minutes, if not a whole hour!
