A school bus driver was charged with a misdemeanor recently in the U.S. after trying to break up a fight between students on a bus. The hapless bus driver could face one year behind bars.

The students were not charged, despite their provocation and wickedness.

If this had happenened in Turkey, the rowdy students would have been severely castigated, and the driver commended.

The driver ``lost his rag``, but he was pushed to the limit. In Turkey, the driver would have had the option to restrain the kids without sanction.

Very true Ghost.

I was on one of those crappy old blue domus(es) ages ago when 2 teenage schoolkids got on. As they were standing near the front they had the job of passing the money to the driver. One of the stops was Ankara Yolu and a few passengers were just saying ''bir Ankara'' or such like and the kids starting taking the p iss by passing money to the driver and saying ''bir Izmir'' etc. The driver who was youngish himself turned around and said ''ayip gencler.'' That totally shamed the kids and that was the end of it. It amazed me because in the UK any teenager would tell him where to go.
