Hi all...
I've been in contact with a Ms. Johanna Huang from the CCIEE Shanghai Branch (China Center for International Educational Exchange), it's a public school position, something I do want, pays well enough, offers:
- return airfare (between Shanghai and your current city of residence)
-Basic transportation allowance while working: usually 100RMB/month
-Basic medical and accidental insurance
-medical examination
-Paid statutory holidays
It didn't mention anything about a work visa or a residency permit, that will be asked in my next e-mail, as I don't want to ASSUME anything. I did ask if the accomidations were provided, and if they were, were they on campus or close to it.
It sounds like a good deal, and it deals with children- something I also like (kids have such a desire for learning ... most kids)
I'm curious if anyone has ever heard of this place or worked for them. I did ask them for a couple e-mail addresses for current or former teachers, but e-mails are easy to bullsh*t, I trust the majority of people here more.
Anywho, if you know something about this place, good or bad, let me know Thanks. Either here or email [email protected]
Cheers,
Tim |

It's safe to say that accomodation will be provided. I have never seen any job offers in China that don't at least include housing allowance.

From the wording of their ads and their web site at www.cciee.com.cn, I am quite convinced that they are a placement agency of people wanting to study abroad, and people wanting to teach in China.

In general, yes, it is safe to assume that your CHinese employer houses you, but in SHANGHAI this is NOT ALWAYS the case.
What has me a tad confused is the mention of "100 RMB travelling allowance" (per month?). You don't normally have to venture out of your university or school; this seems to be an expense for commuting. In this case, you should press them for clarification on whether they are expecting you to find your own accommodation, and whether you have to travel to and from your place of work.
Commutes can be a headache. |

i had worked for this company and i would say consider other companies too. they only provided housing for a few teachers and the rest of us had to find our own living. they did help in finding places which was fine and give us an allowance. please note though, they are great business people and sell their "program" well. make sure to protect yourself in your contract if you sign with them because they are sneaky. i personally wouldn't recommend them and i would say look elsewhere. if you want to know pm me, i can tell you more. trust me, be careful with them. i know lots of teachers that had problems with them and many other things.

about that travel allowance...you may be working in more than one school with that company requiring you to travel from school to school. that is why they have it and also for living, you might have to find your own place because the company says they cannot afford to provide all teachers with living. this is from someone who has worked for them and now is free. |
