Anybody know the name of a good milk brand and where to get it? I've tried several types and just cant seem to find one that tastes nice. I've had milk in the U.S., Australia, and Vietnam that was really good but no luck in Japan yet. |

Good luck The milk here is pretty bad.
Actually, if you want really delicious milk with a high fat content (3.5%), you can get it delivered from Co-op. They don't have it in the stores, it has to be delivered and it isn't cheap (210yen/litre plus about 200 yen for delivery). I get it for my wife and kids. I don't need the extra weight. |

This is the tastiest (though not necessarily the healthiest - quite high fat!) brand of milk I've had so far in Japan:
http://www.glico-dairy.co.jp/product/product_sub.php?pcd=102160&records1.x=34&records1.y=11
It's really creamy and fresh, and doesn't taste at all fatty/buttery!
Glico also do what seems to be an almost identical product in green packaging, but the taste isn't nearly as good.
If your local supermarket stocks the blue 1000ml-size cartons, consider yourself a very very very lucky man (or woman)! |

Hi again OJJ! I forgot to mention MBP by Snow Brand:
http://www.snowbrand.co.jp/products_mbp/index2.html
Again, go for the 1000ml blue carton.
This is nowhere near as good as the Glico, but I suppose it would make a reasonable substitute (if you serve it extra-chilled), and it seems to be more widely available.
By the way, the Glico is widely available in 200ml-size cartons (e.g from convenience stores as well as supermarkets) if you can't find the 1000ml size, but be warned, once you've tasted it you'll want more and more, and the smaller size isn't very economical, is it! |

My local supermarket and three different convience stores near my place don't cary the Glico you mentioned, will try a CoOp next time I see one! Still hunting. At least the milk coffee at the station is pretty good.
Your "creamy and fresh" comment has me determined to find it! |

If you find the Holy Grail of milk (i.e. Glico Mad Blue Cow brand), believe me, the quest will have been worth it. Ganbatte ne! |

My particular brand of milk is called "Love" or something like that. It's the only brand of milk that I can find that is basically skim milk. All the other milk has a ridiculously high fat content. One thing I've always found about milk is that every time you change types, the new kind always tastes bad for a couple of days until you get used to it. I remember as a kid we used to drink storebought milk and then we started drinking milk that we got from a couple of goats that we bought. I thought goat milk tasted terrible compared to store bought milk but then after a while I got used to it and when we switched back to store bought milk I thought the store bought milk tasted terrible compared to goats milk. The same thing happened when we got a milking cow. I guess the moral of the story is just suck it down for a couple of days and eventually you won't even notice it |

I was going to mention Love, but the last time I tried it there were some chalky bits in it which, when I unwittingly swallowed them, reminded me (taste and texture-wise) of those nasty little lumps of pure concentrated greenish evil throat staph/bac that you (I? LOL) can sometimes bring up. I'd prefer MBP to that anyday!!! |

<-----check it out. tried CoOp, Ikari, Daiei, Family Mart, 711, and Lawson's.
I sat down with a PB&J and some Pringles and did a little milk sampling.
I have told by a few that I am a HIMAJIN (one who has lots of time) |

Osakajojo you should really conduct a survey on this, I think we would all benefit from it.

That's hilarious. Yes, you have a lot of free time. So...who is the winner, enquiring minds want to know? |

LOVE is not real milk. It was in the news a few years back about falsly advertising their brand. Since the lawsuit they are no longer allowed to put the kanji "gyu-nyu" (cow's mik) on their cartons but can still call their product miruku in kana. |
