Wait till you arrive in Japan to buy one. Your trainers will tell you which is the best and cheapest to purchase. |

You are extemely orgainsed. Why don't you try kicking back for awhile and just arrive in your sunsuit? That's how I happened upon Japan. I knew nothing so had no preconseptions on how liie would be here. It's fun that way. Show up and try to figure it all out. |

KDDI calling cards can be purchased from convenience stores like Lawsons or Circle K. Cost: 1000yen. Talk time to Canada: 12-15 minutes. A total ripoff, but good for your first week in training.
Then, once you have your address, go online and order a Brastel calling card. It will be mailed to your house and you can keep on topping it up at the convenience store. Not too bad until you get the internet or a phone. |

I wasted hundreds of dollars calling home to Canada with NTT until I got a Brastel card. Yeah, you have to dial a few numbers, but service in English and cheap, cheap, cheap. It's good and clear too on the "normal" option. You register online after picking up the card and re-charge it in increments of 2000 yen at any convenience store. |
