sorry I can't answer emails or private messages, but hope this answers most of the questions. It's how I view the situation at the moment.
Trying to find a job via internet is almost impossible. You have to be here.
As for private elementary schools (not much different than public schools in America), there's "the good, bad, and the ugly." The pay is generally $800 per month. The International School and Oxford International School (not to be confused with the Oxford School) stand out as a couple of the best. There's Balboa Acadamy also, if you can get beyond the 'good ol' gal network' involved there. Stay away from places like the horrible Einstein school and a few others.
As for language schools, there's a number of them. The franchise ELS is a good start, but if you're not certified, they'll probably want you to go through one of their $900-$1,000 courses. Otherwise, certification is not really necessary here. Berlitz is seen as the last resort for anyone. VIP is one if you're desperate. That's $5 an hour. Eiffel School may be a possibility.
University TEFL programs; much more difficult these days. Florida St. is a possibility where you might get one class at $20 an hr. Universidad Latina is a possibility. Laureate International and Universidad Technologica are possible if you time it right and have a work permit.
Work permits may be necessary at some places. This requires a lawyer (usually $500-$600) to do a lot of BS paperwork.
Not a bad place to live, but not cheap. Good luck!
