Any recommendations on which SIM card is the most useful to have and why? Do all of them give balances and provide info in English or are there any to steer clear of? Thanks.

Hello ghostdog:

Some people swear by GSM; the rest use DTAC.

Others, like me, are too stupid to know the difference. Laughing

Personally, I was lured in by DTACs presence in every shopping mall and corner-store across the Kingdom.

Last time I upgraded, I finally bought a slightly better quality Nokia http://www.nokia-asia.com/

and a DTAC International SIM,

and I've been impressed with both the service and the cheap calling rates to the USA.

Here are the links to GSM Thailand and DTAC. Others will surely add their comments:

http://www.dtac.co.th/en/default.aspx (DTAC / mobile phone sales & services)

Here in The Kingdom, all the major Telecoms offer bilingual service, by the way.

If you opt for pre-pay (as most people here do) you'll never get a bill.
