Has anyone ever heard of this place

http://weekendtesol.com/tesol_dates.html#toronto

I want to take a course to get certified to teach English, but they all seem so expensive. If I'm going to spend that much money, I want to make sure I'm getting my moneys worth. This one I found is only $425 Canadian, but I'm not sure if it will help me with getting a job at all.

I've only had direct experience with one course but I did a lot of research before taking the ITTO course in Guadalajara. The cheaper courses may look appealing, but I'm not sure how much you'll really learn. ITTO wasn't perfect, but I felt I got my money's worth out of it and learned a lot. Especially if you don't have teaching experience, you should take a longer course that has lots of teaching practice.

PM me if you want more details about ITTO.

All the certification courses are canned. As such, they do not include the most important element of EFL: How to relate to folks in the culture where you hope to be teaching.

So what would you suggest to overcome this, in your learned opinion?

Thanks for the sarcasm. I suppose it's now MY fault that I am better-educated and more experienced than you?

I would suggest volunteering for a spell to find out if this is a culture that you feel comfortable living/teaching in.

No sarcasm was intended.
