|
|
Hi,
My contract is up here on the 26th of August and that's when my visa expires. I won't be flying out until the first of September and was curious in what I have to do or if I have to leave the country to extend my visa for 4 days. Talk about a pain if I do just to stay an extra 4 days. I'm a Canadian citizen if that means anything. |

You have to change it to a tourist visa at immigration before your current visa expires. Doesnt matter whether its one day or four. You are here illegally the day after your visa is up and you risk deportation if caught on an expired visa. |

According to my math, you have 6 days, not 4. |

You have to go to Immigration and ask for an EXTENSION. They will want to see your ticket ( probably) and ask on the form how much money you have, checking that you have enough to stay in Japan and live, but just put something down, they won't check. It's such a short time you should have no trouble but take your alien registration card, address, and passport just so you have all the info to fill out the form. I forget if you have to buy one of those stamps for the service, but it must be a minimal charge, if any. |
