I am trying to decide about Peppy kids club. I hear that the working climate sucks since they changed management systems. A few people have told me that. Can people in different areas comment? Maybe it a a local problem? |

They streamlined management so that all the official "management" positions were held by Japanese.
I have heard complaints but apparently it made no difference to the teachers.
Peppy is known for changing its policies randomly and semi annually. |

There is no local management of peppy's. Its all centrally controlled from the offices in Nagoya. As the other poster mentioned, peppy's changes management policies on a regular basis. Being all J-controlled (again) doesn't suprise me as there's been a long running history of friction between the j-staff and n-staff at the homeoffice. I am curious as to how Mr. Wright is fairing concerning this. He's none too popular among a large number of people. |

I just suggest not working to close to Nagoya....
The further u are from head office... the less u even know they are there... I lived in Nagano Prefecture... and I had no contact with head office... just to submit my time sheet by fax...
It really was very simple and enjoyable working for them... working four ours a day with all the programing done for you is not hard at all.
Doing coloring sheets with little kids and playing number bingo is not hard!
i have lots of positives to say about peppy.... go peppy goooooo.
cheers |

It must vary alot from region to region. I read about lots of meetings and supervisors who cracked the whip. Did you see your supervisors much. were they normal?
How was the skiing in Nagano? |

Mike a friend of mine works there and says there are area managers and regional managers, and they come out to watch lessons. Teachers report to an office in their region, NOT Nagoya. There managers report to Nagoya.
He does not like his supervisor, who evaluates his lessons. think its just a couple of areas with a bad climate, other posters have said it okay in others.
I think ecc might be better anyway, for me but still deciding. Got better private messages about ecc, seems better. |

I would LOVE to be skiing in Japan! I am greatful for the posts I got here, but I think Ecc is a better fit for me. If they stop dragging their feet about the details... I will go with them.
Sounds like there is lots of politics at Peppys right now. ECC sounds more straight forward.
Thanks everyone again.
Hope to see you on the slopes. |
