I recieved a DUI about three years ago and was wondering if this could hurt my chances when a school runs a background check and comes across this.

Did you get a DUI in your own country or in Japan?

DUI could mean cell time or a huge fine here.

Its not a criminal offense, its a misdemeanor and chances are you wont bwe driving a car here to work anyway. What schools dont know doesnt hurt them and it wont be on your record as its not a criminal offence.

I highly doubt one of the big 4 schools would dig that deeply on a background check. Like PaulH said, what they don't know won't hurt 'em (or you).

Nope. Won't affect it at all. I had 3 misdemenors and one felony dropped to a "dismissed charge" before I left America. Needless to say I liked to party in college...Nova didn't even ask about them at all. As long as you haven't molested any kids or trafficed drugs you should ok! Very Happy
