I know baseball is popular in many latin american countries, though not as much as soccer of course. How much do people, boy/girls/men/women play baseball or softball in Mexico? I love softball and would like to play some while I'm there. If girls don't play softball, what do they play? |

Where will you be? There are definitely softball leagues (men's and women's) in Oaxaca at least. |

I don't know where I'll be. Just wondering if it existed at all. |

Not being much into sports either as a participant or an observer, I asked my (university) students about local sports leagues. They told me that there are local women's leagues for both softball and soccer in this city. |

I never thought about a womens softball league..... Its been ages since I played but I might not be a bad idea.... I really need to get out of the office more. Who sponsors/runs these kinds of leagues? |

I'm not sure who runs the leagues but I think the easiest way to find out, if you know where some teams play, is to just go up and talk to the players. I only know about the one in Oaxaca because I live near a softball field (I think it's oficially a kids' baseball field but they use it for adults softball too). I know some of the baseball leagues have official websites, so maybe try a search on a Mexican search engine (google.com.mx or similar) and search for softball. I think in Spanish it's just "softball" too. The sites will be in Spanish of course. |
