Hey,

I fancy having a kick about once a week, nothing too serious. We need 10-15 players (5 a side plus any extras) and the cost will be however much it costs to rent a 5 a side pitch for an hour or so. My guess is around 10pesos a person. I'm trying to find somewhere to play at the moment. We'd probably play in the evening after 7pm and then go for a beer or 2 afterwards. It'll most likely be outdoors so if it rains you still have to turn up and play!! Dirty cloggers are not allowed

p.s. a dirty clogger is a big moron whose only purpose on the football pitch is kicking anyone remotely skillful. An example would be anyone who plays for Bolton Wanderers.

I've just thought about starting this up, Carlos, so as of this minute there's me and well...me as confirmed players although i know a few people who might be interested.

Anyway, the idea is to help people meet up, have a laugh and have a couple of beers (shandies for the northerners ). Buenos Aires can be quite a daunting place when you first arrive so this would be a way for people new to the city and for people who've been around for a while to get to know each other and exchange info etc about living and working here. Just another kind of expat get together but actually doing something rather than sitting in some restaurant talking bollo cks like at many expat 'clubs'.

By the way, there's a game of touch rugby played every Saturday in the park in Palermo at 4pm. Details are:

We have quite the community going on here in the Argentina forum, thankfully insulated from all of the drama that has been plaguing other forums...

Anyway, enough of that sappy stuff. Matt, if you're still playing in September and don't mind too much if the most exposure one of your players has had to the sport is through FIFA 2002 for Playstation, I'm game. Just kidding...I'm not thaaat awful (I actually organized an Intramural team at school for a few years), but I'm sure I'm light years away from anyone who refers to the game as "football," haha.

I'm embarrassed to say that I don't even know all the rules of football, much less how to play decently, which doesn't prevent me from being a huge fan. Used to watch games at Maracan� when I lived in Rio. Go Fluminense!

On the rugby side, however, I'm down. I played flyhalf, wing, and center in high school. Thanks for the idea, Matt, and I look forward to possibley meeting up with some of you guys in the near future.

Less than a week to go! I'm excited.

I've just found about a group of expats who play footy on monday nights. I'm going to check it out and i'll let everyone know what's going on. Apparently the cost is around 110 pesos for an hour/hour and a half for the pitch so my guess was about right for individual costs.

We (my friends and I) pay 65 pesos per hour if we play at night, or 40 during the daylight!

Matt, I checked Club de Amigos today and their soccer pitches are only for the ninos. There is another place in Palermo near Alto Palermo. I�ll ask about that this week.

Im keen as to get involved in a bit of 5 aside soccer, in fact I'm keen to involve myself in any sort of exercise that will prevent me turning into a fat *beep*!

Touch rugby sounds good also! Speaking of Rugby, just quietly, didn't the All Blacks thrash the lions on the weekend!

Anyway I arrive next wednesday, keep me updated on whats happening.

Right, i finally made it to footy last night. Unfortunately it was a little bit of a wash out as we were only 7 in total. Last week there were apparently 20 which is too many and this week 7 which is too few. But we played anyway and it's a good laugh. And i didn't cripple myself which is what usually happens when i play football so that was nice. So 9pm Parque Las Heras every Monday night. Cost: between 8 and 12 pesos depending on how many turn up and how long we play. It's around 70 for the hour for the pitch.

And kiwiboy: not another of you lot...there are way too many kiwis here already and i'm trying to avoid them all after the embarrassing Lions tour...jeez, what a waste of �10 million. Shameful. You guys were pretty awsome though, especially in the 2nd test and especially Carter. Wow. Anyway, come along to rugby on Saturday. I think we're playing this week but as a couple of guys are away it's not guaranteed (and the weather's not either). Email the address above to be put on the mailing list and you'll find out.

excuse my ignorance, but wasnt sure which e-mail address you were referring too. But please keep me updated as to whats happening re rugby and soccer.

Too bad about the lions tour, but form all accounts off the field it was a great success, the lions fans were awsome and everyone seemed to have a good time!
