Try the following:
http://www.eslteachersboard.com
or
http://www.eslcafe.com/joblist/ (sound familiar?)
There are many more out there. My goodness people - - shop around, send out a dozen resumes. Ask them a lot of questions. Lately I'm reading posts where people are saying they can't find jobs or are only tracking down a limited amount. Where here are two places that have dozens of new listings every day! There's still plenty of time (but don't drag your heels too long) to find a (hopefully) half-way decent job in a location best suited for your needs.
PS: There are many more sites out there; these two just seem rather fruitful is all. |

You probably don't realize the fact that these seem to be far more job seekers than jobs available. |

Kev, Thanks for the information. Stuck in Hefei until February and then I 'll try something new. Unless I meet somebody. |

What statistics or personal observations do you base this statement on? Why do you believe this is true. I'm not saying you're wrong but please offer some supporting evidence.
Actually, if I had to, I would guess, especially in China, that the opposite is true. Schools in China seem to be in short supply of foreign teachers, and based on the things you read on this board, it's no wonder.
Of course, you're there and I'm not, so I'm sure that you must be privy to information that I am not. Are there really that many people looking to teach in China? |

As I said, there SEEM to be more jobs seekers than jo ads. Compare the number of new resumes posted online by different people wanting to teach in China, and the number of new job ads posted by actual employers (recruiters not included). Of course, if you want to take into consideration schools NOT posting ads then yes there would be many more jobs. But I was talking about jobs POSTED. |

Yes, you're right. It is hard to determine if there are more schools or job seekers, but many people who post their resumes are possibly inappropriate [non-native speakers, unqualified, inexperienced, etc.], repeats, or just fishing around, like myself. I posted my resume on several sites last year just to see what kind of offers I might get. I still get a couple, ineveitably comic, from China every few days. That's what makes me think there is a shortage of teachers, not a surplus, there.
But again it's kind of hard to judge just based on this little bit of info. |
