Hello everyone! Please take it easy on me because I'm a newbie. So, I just graduated from Tulane University (BA in Asian Studies and Spanish), and I want to go on to China to teach English for a year. Has anyone heard of Footprints Recruiting? A friend of a friend went through them in Chile and had a great experience. Anyway, I am looking for a job pretty much anywhere with a warm climate where they speak Mandarin. I also may have my best friend tagging along, and I read that a lot of schools like you to come in pairs b/c the living arrangements are cheaper for them. Any suggestions for where to look, and which cities will fit my warm weather criteria? I went to Chinatefl.com, and signed up with Footprints so far, but I am looking to apply to as many places as possible. Thanks! |

Clueless,
Why did you take a major in Asian studies and study an Italic language?

Hi Aphrodite..
As a fellow Tulane Alum, welcome to China (or well wanting to come to China). I have been here for a year and love it. Too bad my major was law not Asian Studies. If you have any questions feel free to PM me for my email. I also have a few schools you might want to contact.
J, Class of 2000 Freeman Biz School
Class 2003 The hell hole called the Law School |

Tofuman, to respond to your question, I began a major in Spanish and then later added Asian Studies because I was also studying Mandarin Chinese. In addition to Chinese and Spanish, I studied Portuguese and Vietnamese, so I guess I just have an interest in language in general. Thanks for your curiosity. |
