Hi, just wondering if anyone out there has worked for Al Akhawayn university, in Ifrane, Morocco. If so, how was your experience? What was the motivation level of the students, cooperation with administration, etc. And were you able to save much of your salary.
Thanks in advance. |

If you're skilled at consistently kissing butt, go for it. The clown in charge of the ESL department is a pompous clown named Lahlou.
Pay: Enough to live on, not enough to save. You can do better elsewhere in Morocco.
School admin: Stand-offish, rather disorganized, does not involve itself in departmental affiars, meaning, Lahlou does whatever he wants in his little fiefdom.
Students: Moroccan students are great anywhere in the country, and that includes AlAkhawayn.
Suggestion: If you want to teach in Morocco, go to Amideast in Rabat or one of the ALCs. You'll have far better materials, you will work with professionals - many of your coworkers are PhDs and teaching at university, and you will be treated with much more respect by management. |
