hi
I was wondering which schools can actually GET visas for teachers...and if so, are the visas renewable if you change schools? or is it hard to transfer and continue a visa elsewhere?
Please advise! |

My experience:
I have just spent a wonderful year teaching at a great university in Costa Rica. They applied for work visa's for all 32 teachers and were denied. We were told that the government will not issue work visa's for non residents and their reason was that there is 35,000 Costa Rican teachers who speak English and are capable of teaching English. It is understandable that they do not want us taking away employment from a Costa Rican.
I don't know if this is just the story the university gave us or if this is the same in all the other universities in CR. However there are tons of language schools and agencies that are still employing Native TEFL teachers who are working while only having a tourist visa.
