I can't believe it's been a year already. Thanks to everyone on here who helped so much. Now it's my turn - if you've got questions, hit me with 'em! I have (sometimes dismaying) intimate knowledge of many procedures, etc. |

Thanks, ls650. I must admit that I was one of those who was mystified.
So, Punter, let's hear some tales of your "(sometimes dismaying) intimate knowledge of many procedures." |

Ok, Merida looks interesting? Recommend it, in terms of it being a greeat city to live in?
Hows the teaching scene there? Plenty of work or scraps? |

OK, I'll ask a few questions.
~ What type of school did you work at when you were in Merida?
~ At the end of your year in Merida, did you manage to either break even or come out ahead financially?
~ In your opinion, what were the most positive and negative aspects of living and working in Merida for a year?
~ Did I meet you while you were here? (Are you the couple who taught with my former student Lenny?) |

I find it to be a nice enough city to live in. No doubt I'm a little biased, having lived and worked here for nearly 10 years.
Merida is growing at an almost alarming rate and has been for the past few years. Small private language schools seem to be popping up like mushrooms. How successful they'll be and whether or not they're looking for teachers are things I don't know. I'd say if people have something for qualifications and experience, then with a bit of luck they could find work as EFL teachers in this city. Living even halfway comfortably only on an EFL teacher's wages could be a different matter, however. |
