Anyone aware of any good websites where you can buy and sell things in Japan? I am primarily looking to buy a used car, but would be interested in online resources which I could find other items as well. If you know of any, please list your link here. Also, anyone ever heard of anyone using Ebay Japan?

For cars check GOO.net. It will be in Japanese, but it's a pretty impressive site.

As far as I know, there is no Ebay in Japan. It failed because of competition from Yahoo Auctions, which is more or less the same idea.
We have just moved into a new flat and had zero furniture. We have furnished at least 60 % of it through Yahoo Auctions (the rest from our local recycle shop!)
Yahoo auctions differs a little from Ebay in that
(1) you have to pay a monthly fee of a few hundred yen to be able to place bids or sell something.
(2) the vast majority of auctions have an automatic time extension. This really gets on my nerves. What happens is, say an auction is due to close at 10:00pm, if someone places a bid at 9:59, the auction deadline is extended for 10 mins. Then someone else puts in a counter bid at 10:09 and the whole thing is extended for another 10 minutes and so on. Your Ebay bidding tactics go out the window on Yahoo auctions.
(3) I find that people are honest and fair with P&P costs on Yahoo auctions. Certainly on the European Ebays, you find that people try and make a bit of extra profit by whacking an extra couple of euro on the postage costs. I was charged almost 5 euro for post and packing on a book not too long ago and when it arrived, it was in a battered envelope with 1euro55 in postage. When I complained, the guy's attitude was, "You knew how much P&P would be when you made a bid". Here you are charged for the actual postage, which I find refreshing.
