I'm about to purchase a new PDA and I'm looking into getting the new blackberry as I can use it as a cell phone and surf the web and all those neat little tricks. My question is, will it be compatiable with living over in Taiwan. If it's not then i'll just get a regular PDA--and wait to live in Taiwan before getting a new mobile phone. I'd take mine but it doesn't have GPS capabilities--being as it's stricktly a Bell Mobility phone.
So has anyone bought a Blackberry and brought it with them? I don't want to spend $500 or more on a nice little PDA/Phone for it to not work in Taiwan.
Thanx again for all my technical toys questions! |

Probably not.
As a general rule manufacturers make these devices incompatible in other regions for a variety of reasons like curtailing uncontrolled export/import of the products, price control and radio frequency regulations/allocations.
If the price is significantly lower there, contact the manufacturer and make sure it is adaptable.
Good luck!
