Sweetsee,
You are one to talk!! Your posts in the Japan forum clearly show that you are the scatterbrain, and you have admitted as such. Why not just TRY answering some of lesgrin's questions?

You probably won't, but shoot for high numbers. Answer to questions you pose? Hardly likely and very time consuming. Go for pair or small group work. Read some of Penny Ur's books for advice.

I teach in Japan, but I would still say that is a bit strict and pointless. You are probably going to have to pass them all anyway, so try using a carrot instead of a stick. Give bonus points for "correct behavior", whatever that may be.

Have you done a Google search on these? Have you looked at Dave's links or lesson plan ideas? |

Glenski has provided excellent advice, as usual. The only thing I would add to it is to concentrate on yourself, as opposed to worrying about what your students are, or aren't doing. Do your best with the material provided and build rapport with those students who are open to your efforts. It is difficult but don't be swayed by the non-students.
Smile a lot, never raise your voice and maintain your composure at all times. You are the only person in the room that is getting paid to be there. |
