Hi all

I've been planning to go to Japan in early August but, having got involved with a Polish girl in England recently, am now thinking of returning with her when she goes back at the end of July.

Could anyone please give me some pointers? I'm 37yo with a BA in English, PGCE full teaching qual, one year's teaching ESOL (not TEFL) experience and very little Polish language. What do you think my chances of finding a decent job would be without a CELTA or similar? Also, am I ok to just get on the plane with a European passport (UK Citizen) and start looking (only looking!) for work? I shall be in Poland at the end of July.

Your chances are pretty damn good unless you want to work in Krakow. However you won't find much work until September because the schools don't start until then. Which town will you be in? If you're in Warsaw send me a message and I'll happily show you where the good bars are and give you the low down on working here.

The upshot:
Japan = lots of money but lots of expenses
Poland = enough money to live well on, a great lifestyle and Polish girls!
