I think I got a parking ticket on my bicycle today. What's the deal? Do I actually have to pay this rubbish? Can they track my bike to me? Everybody else was parked there and there was no 'no parking sign'. At least not a pictoral sign. I can't read Japanese though so something may have been there...any suggestions? I can't even read the ticket...oh, the beauty of a foreign country... |

If your bike is registered, and if they took down your bike number then they can track it back to you.
Your number has your name and your address linked to it.
Find out if its a ticket first, it could just be a warning.
I had my bike taken by the city and I was amazed at how big of a deal it was to get it back, they do take even small things like this seriously. |

If your bike was parked somewhere near a public place, like a station, and there was a card ( bright yellow around here) wired to the bike with a date a few days in the future on it, it was a warning that your bike would be impounded if left there. We get them here if we leave our bikes in front of the station overnight, but as long as you move it before the date, you can throw the tag away. |
