Here's a bit of reflective therapy for everyone after a hard year's teaching.
Someone comes to you and asks; 'Oh wise one! What are the three summits and the three valleys of the honorable art of teaching EFL?'
What are your answers to be?
Mine? Easy...
Summits
1. Travel
2. Never going a day without learning something new
3. The incredible people drawn to EFL
Valleys
1. Present Perfect V Past Simple (i.e. how grammar books destroy any hope of students EVER understanding it)
2. Lack of proper pay/conditions structure
3. The INCREDIBLE people drawn to it (e.g. a former colleague who ate the metal tops off all board markers - usually mine!) |
