Hi, I've been looking for posts on Times Language Training Center but couldn't find any. Can I hear from somebody who has worked for them or might know about their school in Quanzhou? I'm considering other positions in Quanzhou- can somebody comment on the city and some other schools to consider? (Possibly their public primary schools?)
Thanks!

Hi krh

Times is a privately owned language training centre based in Xiamem. Unless things have changed it is jointly owned by a married couple, the wife is American the husband Chinese. At one time they installed a British manager while while they went to the States, I'm not sure who's in charge at the moment.

The American owner (the wife) who was on a big power trip, was almost universally disliked by the foreign teachers, although the husband always seemed fairly amiable - in a Chinese way. I worked for them part-time and from what I heard from the full-time teachers I wouldn't want to work for them again.

The kids teaching isn't really teaching. They have Chinese teachers and you are mainly there for show, so if you want a real teachig job you might like to look somewhere else. Remember, they are only interested in making money - other considerations are secondary.

The above was current about 3 years ago. Things might have changed!

Quanzhou is an interesting place!

I have been in Quanzhou for about 5 months. If you have questions about the city drop me an email and I will answer any questions you have. The DOS from Times in Quanzhou is Mario from America. I don't have his number but he seems like a nice guy.
