Hello everyone. I'm a certified Canadian teacher looking to teach somewhere new and exciting. I recently had an interview with Ibadan International School in Nigeria and I'll be finding out on Monday whether I got the position or not.
Has anyone taught in Nigeria before? I'm a little nevous about going as I don't know a whole lot about it. My mom lived there for three years when she was younger as my grandfather worked for Ontario Hydro and helped them to build the Kanji Dam, but she was there ages ago and I know that a lot has changed.
My biggest concern is my safety and my sanity. The headteacher assures me that it's safe, and I'm pretty sure that I'll be living on a guarded compound, but I'm still a little worried.... and as far as my sanity goes, does anyone know of any sites to see and things to do in Ibadan?
I really do want to go because I think that it would be an incredible experience, but I would feel better if I could hear from some people who have been there.... Any information would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you in advance! Very Happy

One of my ex colleagues from Turkey taught at that school for 3 years, ı think- unless Ibadan has more than one compounded international school. She seemed extremely happy about it, judging by her emails. It sounded like the international and African communities there were pretty tight. I didnt hear anything from her about feeling unsafe- mind you, she's south african so maybe its all relative!
