Have seen some ads for online teaching and was wondering about it.
I am a qualified teacher with an additional certificate to teach English as a second language but am married to a person who is tied to his job at the moment so am unable to travel and have only taught English to new immigrants in Canada.
I am currently unemployed and have noticed ads stating you can teach online from your home. Has anyone done this and how does it work? I'd be worried about the logistics of it, but am interested non the less.
Any information would be greatly appreciated. I tried to search other posts but did not come up with much so thought I'd ask.

Im not sure how it works but a school I know in Japan uses a multimedia system where teachers and students communicate and see each other "online" by use of closed circuit camera feeds. the teacher is at the school sitting in front of a monitor or camera which feeds a live image to the student at home.
Keep in mind that you have time differences depending on where the student is and you have to be able to log on at the same time despite the time differences.
You need to have the technology (e.g. high speed broadband, or cable Internet) in place to be able to receive and send images and communicate with students over the Internet.
I did see a school in Korea that advertises in this way but I was unsure of how they pay teachers living in other countries. |
