Let me jump in here first.
Buxiban.com does not act as a recruiter. The buxiban.com site is in existance for information only, and doesn't get any money from the recruitment of teachers. Users are free to contact schools directly through the site and line up jobs directly with schools. We list all schools that want a listing for free, and we get our income from consulting services to schools. We advise schools on teacher employment but we do not do teacher recruiting. The aim is to raise the level of employment offered to teachers, and so far the schools that have taken part in the program have benefited from this.
During the course of the operation of the site, we have been asked on occasion for assistance with placing teachers. Personally, I think teacher recruiting would be a difficult and thankless job, so instead of doing this ourselves, we teamed up with another service provider who does this. They do not pay us for this, they just have an undertaking with us to provide the best service possible, and we chose this provider carefully. The service provider we chose is a small outfit, all the members of which I know personally. While I can't promise that every teacher who goes through them will be happy with their time in Taiwan, I can guarantee that those teachers will be given the best possible service and advice on living and teaching in Taiwan. There are several characteristics of placements that they are undertake:
1. All positions are legal and offer an ARC through the actual school that teachers will work for.
2. The majority of the positions are with chain schools, and with kids.
3. Each placement gets the standard benefits of airport pickup, initial accomodation etc.
4. Most importantly though, the placements include training in how to teach kids in Taiwan and specifically with the materials that the teacher will use in the classroom.
5. As usual placements are free as the school pays these guys for a trained and qualified teacher, rather than the standard practice of a recruiter being paid for a 'white face'.
You do not need a recruiter to find work in Taiwan, and users of any site such as Daves would know this to be true. In fact, buxiban.com is no doubt a recruiters nightmare as it enables teachers to deal with schools directly.
Having said that there are always going to be some people who prefer to deal through a recruiter, and this is the reason that we have teamed up with this service provider. I would be interested in any feedback that any one has and welcome it on this public forum.
To contact these guys you can do so by clicking on the 'Teacher Placements' banner on the buxiban site. The guys that you will deal with will be Cindy and Gary. |
