Hey guys, a friend of mine is coming to China (where I currently am), but he's flying Japan Airlines and has a one night layover in Japan. Do any of you know of a comfortable, but cheap, hotel near the Narita airport?

Ran a search before posting this thread, but I could only find info on Tokyo:

Have any of you guys ever stayed overnight in Narita? If so, I could really use your help.

When the layover was due to Japan Airlines' own scheduling, the airline put me up for free at its own Narita hotel (including breakfast, of course). What's your friend's itinerary?

Sorry, mate. I imagine that the lack of response to your post may be because no one has stayed in Narita. I'd venture to guess that most people just continue on to Tokyo and points beyond... I know there are hotels near Narita, but I strongly doubt they even remotely resemble being "cheap." If your friend has enough time to make it into Tokyo, the link to the thread you posted will be your best bet.

Otherwise you may want to try the: How to Sleep in an Airport guide here: http://www.researchbuzz.org/how_to_sleep_in_an_airport_.shtml

This page links to the Sleeping in Airports review site here: http://www.sleepinginairports.net/

Be prepared to spend at least $80/night if you do get something nearby. I found this one on a Google search:
http://www.bookingsavings.com/asia_pacific/japan/tokyo/hotels/45052.html
Rooms start at 6800 yen.

Here is another link to a site that lists a number of hotels with prices in USD.

Hey guys, thanks for the replies. I especially like the 'sleeping in airports' site. Funny stuff Very Happy

Actually, he is flying via Japan Airlines, and they put him in their hotel for the trip over but told him he had to find his own hotel on the way back. His ticket agent said all the hotels are already booked solid for August. Something about a sports meet?

I'm trying all the online reservation agencies and going directly to the hotel websites to see what, if anything, I can get. He may just have to sleep in the 'overnight lounge' at the Narita airport, which may not be too bad.

Thanks for the help, guys.
