A mate of mine is looking for an apt. on the Asian side.

Not too far from Kad., so taking the Dolmus over to the European side won't be too much of a bother.

Looking for a furnished place, hopefully under 600 YTL in a decent neigbourhood. This would be for around Oct.

Also looking to avoid the emlak costs if possible.

No emlak, furnished, decent area, handy for transport and for UNDER 600 YTL. Your friend wants a lot.

select the area, then wander the streets, looking for flats for rent with signs in the window from the owner

Sorry,

that should have been MAX. 600 ytl.

I've spoken to some folks who say that the furhter you go from the Box. it's certainly feasible.

sorry that should have been "further away from the Bosphorous."
