Hi,
I'm just wondering if anyone can help me with what the average pay and working conditions (hours, number of students, accomodaction, etc) are being employed at a Chinese junior/senior high school - as for location would prefer Beijing or Shanghai, though am open to other areas.
If it makes a difference, I've a Bachelor in Education (P-12), taugh in Australia 2 1/2 years at primary school, and 5 years in Japan (Conversation school and ALT). I've no knowlegde of China (work/pay) conditions which is why I ask.
There seem to be almost too many offers/jobs which is why I'm being cautious - as opposed to Japan which are by the usual suspects (with basic pay/conditions). Anyway, if you can offere advice thanks - if not thanks for taking the time to view at least.

Pay varies with the number of hours offered, which varies from school to school. You can be working for as little as 40 RMB an hour to close to 60 RMB an hour. You can be teaching as few as 14 hours a week, to over 20 hours a week. As for accomodation, government schools usually place FT's in a furnished dormitory on campus, or in an apartment either on campus or off campus.
Note: each "hour" = 40 minutes - 50 minutes |
