Could anyone help me out with a little clarification on what exactly a "letter of introduction" entails? Must it be from a Japanese person that you previously worked for in Japan, or could it be from someone back home (professor, former employer, etc.)? Also, must it be from someone who knows the person you are applying to? Sorry if this is a basic question.

Thanks,
Louis

Hi Louis,

Do you mean a "cover letter", introducing yourself and your objective?

Sorry to answer your question with a question, mate.

Regards,

Yeah, letter of introduction is usually another way of saying cover letter or statement of experience. They just want to know how many orphanages you've volonteered at and lepers you've treated. I think its also meant to see how much of a positive self-image you have. Got to make sure you're a go getting, synergetic proactive mock 3 Gillette Super Champion. Drink 3 coffees, snort a line of coke and hop to it.

Otherwise I'd say you mean references. I used Canadian references from every cruddy summer job I've ever worked. Might have even got the paper I delivered when I was 11 eleven years old to vouch for me. Jazz it up a little by relating it to interpersonal skills, dependability and hard work and you're set. They just want to know you didn't live in a broom closet your whole life. Have my doubts they even check them unless you're going with JET. The Work VISA is where they get you to sign your life away.

This confused me at first too.

Like the previous poster said, I think it's just another name for cover letter.
