I am full time at a university here. You had best PM me if you have any particular questions because whether you get a job and what kind depends on the following factors. salary usually is tied to age, qualifications and experience and the salary scales are different for private and public universities.
To get part time jobs you generally need:
Masters degree (over 50% of current jobs specifically ask for Masters and there is tons of competition. A small minority you can get with a BA but its more your connections than anything else and pay is lower).
Teaching experience in Japan preferably in a high school or a university
Full time: Depends on position but common requirements include
Masters or above, depending on position
publications
previous university teaching experience
specialty preferred (CALL, composition, TOEIC, reading etc)
japanese ability highly recommended
Many PT jobs come through connections and knowing people. Publicly advertised jobs are heavily subscribed.
Salary is based on age and experience- currently i teach 10 classes a week at my main school and 3 classes part time. A 30 year old with a couple of years experience could make anything between 4 and 6 million yen a year.
Where is your teaching experience? have you taught Japanese or Asian students? Do you speak any Japanese at all? |
