I've read a lot of negative posts about teaching expereinces, and some of the schools really sound like they are exploiting teachers. I'm new to teaching so I'm curious, if I sign a contract for a year and find that the school is treating me badly and want to leave, is it like any other job where you give 4 weeks notice and then just leave, or are you bound to the full year?

Excuse my ignorance, but thought I'd better check before I do any signing given some of the nasty experiences folk have had Embarassed

Polish labour law is crystal clear on this point: a month of notice and you can walk. Depending on the type of contract it may have to be a full calendar month (ie give notice you will leave on September first either on or before July 31st) or it might just be 28 days.

Generally speaking you don't really need to worry about notice. If the school tries to cut up rough about you giving your notice you just tell them that if your rights are not going to be respected you will have to inform the Labour office about that. A visit from the Labour office is what no business wants so the school will back down.
