Maybe they spell it like this: Linkou. If so, it's between Taipei and Taoyuan. |

You need to understand that Romanization or Pin Yin on Taiwan is not for non Chinese to use. It is designed to make a political and social statement by the occupational government about themselves and Taiwan's society as a whole.
That is why there are at least three different systems of romanization in wide spread use on Taiwan and many variantants. Different spelling systems are used interchangeably on both official and unofficial identifiers (maps, street signs etc..).
The only Chinese word consistently spelled the same on Taiwan is the name "Taiwan". Nearly all other names of places or anything else have at least two other spellings commonly in use.
I think is is a very clear statement by the incompetent government on Taiwan about their inability to govern and Taiwan's society in general.
Good luck reading the local maps and signs, you're going to need it.
