|

I am living in Colorado right and I am trying to consider what city I should have my interview in.
Since the place I pick to have your interview is also the place I will fly out of. I am considering requesting Seattle for my interview since its my hometown and it would be nice to see family before I leave etc.
I cant decide if I should choose Denver or Seattle or any other city for that matter. I am willing to interview anywhere if it means I have more of a chance of getting accepted.
I have not been able to find any demographics or any other information regarding acceptance and applicants for each US City.
Are there certain Cities that I might have greater chance of getting accepted? Maybe Seattle accepts more people, but has more applicants? Those kinds of questions.
Basically I am just trying to decide between Denver and Seattle... and if it makes a difference at all on the Jet side of things.
thanks ! |

I don't think it matters at all which city you choose. The odds of being selected will be the same. |

It can make a small difference where you interview. The consulates are allocated numbers to interview and select. If there are larger numbers of applicants at a given consulate then your chances there drop.
Consulates with lower numbers of applicants tend to be New Orleans, Guam, and Alaska/Anchorage. |

The other thing to keep in mind is that you have to do pre-departure orientation and fly out of your interview city. And theoretically your contract organization only has to provide return airfare at the end of your contract to said city, although in practice I don't think Okinawa at least sticks to that...
I did NYC and had a fine time. I also lucked out 'cause I interviewed 2 days after a huge blizzard that shut eveything on the east coast down. The only way I could get out of Vermont was by amtrak. But, I made it to the interview and many others did not. This may have helped me get in. When I met one of my interviewers again at pre-departure she said I was one of only 3 people they recommended to go that day.
Interviews are in February, so weather can always be a factor. |

Even though it'd probably be more ideal to interview at a place with less applicants (I guess that might increase the chances), I'd still go with whichever interview location is the closest to you. For example, my closest place is DC. It's only about a two-hour drive from here, even though traffic picks up around Northern Virginia. At least I can give myself extra time and all that since it is so close and don't have to rely on the plane or the train to get there. Also cheaper for me, especially since the Yarris we have is really good on gas. Takes about 1/2 tank coming and going to the DC area. |
