I know it's possible to set up a slingbox in Japan to watch TV from the US, but what about vice versa? If I am moving back to the states, can I set up a slingbox in Japan so that I can watch Japanese tv in America?

If you want to follow the big shows in the UK and US but haven't sorted out your slingbox, cable, etc, in the meantime you can always torrent them.

In the past you had to use search engines like isohunt to find what you wanted and often wasted time (and bandwith/download limits... those were the days) downloading programmes to find they had been uploaded by a troll.

But there are now sites who actually host only their own genuine torrents. eztv.it is one such site which only hosts torrents of their own good quality vids (none of that pixel filled crap with dodgey sound!) with decent numbers of seeds and peers, so good download speeds. And they normally have the torrents up for the latest episode a day after they are aired back home.

For movies, the notorious AXXO is good provider of good quality torrents.

EDIT: To the OP.
If you don't need English subs, then of course its easy enough to find torrents for your favourite Japanese shows, too. It's going to be a little more time consuming, but at least you'll be able to follow the shows whilst trying to sort out a proper TV service.

Another option would be to order a satelite dish, and as long as it includes a descrambler/decoder box, you can get satelite TV, some 350 plus channels, if i remember right (might be more, have to ask my friend next time I visit). The box itself is the only part that is quasi-legal, my friend got his from Canada.
