This Newbie forum is proving to be very useful and interesting. As an "old hand", I've even learnt a few things. |

Not to be persnickety (I'm to young to qualify for the curmudgeons' club) but et means and. So "R and et al" means "R and and all"

Dear xnihil,
You don't have to be a curmudgeon to be persnickety, you know ( although it helps ). You can be a young - a) wise guy; b) twit; or c) twerp.
And I agree wholeheartedly with your correction. So, what say we change it to:
" and etcetera ".
Regards,
John
P.S. Ron, you don't have to add " weight " to your posts. They're heavy enough reading as is.
Curmudgeonly.

Dear Mr.Slat -
I'm a relative newcomer to this forum, but I was just curious about what distinctions you make between wise guys, twits and twerps. I enjoy deprecating classifications of this nature. (I hope this enjoyment doesn't lump me in with any of the three).
Curmudgeon-novice,
R. |
