Recently the Municipalities and Agriculture Department in the emirate has advised all the residents to either hide unsightly satellite receiver dishes or remove them.

The ruling throughout the emirate bans visible cables, satellite dishes and other antennas on rooftops, balconies and windows. It also applies to private houses and villas.

Has anyone been bothered by this, like having to cancel your subscription?

I know all of the fellas at work were up in arms because the South African channels were "banned". Which means no rugby.

Is this related?

Not much of a rugby fan so I can't say as I noticed, but was trying to get into it. Guess there is no need to bother now. Smile

wherever availble, I would strongly recommend Etisalat's cable TV, Evision. For one thing, they offer all the channels of BOTH Orbit Satellite and Showtime sat. In Abu Dhabi recently I had about 50 English channels with Evision (for about US$150/month, I might add)

My last job in Oman I paid $65 for... was it showtime? And it only had BBC and CNNI and about 5 other English channels - which mostly just re-cycled the same programs for months on end...
