|
|
Based on my experiences teaching in Seoul, Mexico City, and rural Honduras, I would much rather have a peer ESL instructor (ex-pat) refer me to a school or business, than a recruiter or just a blind ad. Therefore, I am asking if any ESL instructors on this job forum, living and working in Mexico, can refer me to his/her school or business for an ESL position.
If you contact me via email: [email protected], I can supply you with a detailed CV and photo. In all brevity, I have 5 + years experience teaching ESL to primary school pupils through university students, as well as business executives in Tanzania, Korea, Mexico, South Africa, and Honduras. In addition to classroom teaching, I have also conducted private 1:1 ESL instruction, as well as scripted and acted on two weekly educational, television shows in Seoul, Korea, for EBS (Educational Broadcasting Systems.) The television shows, "Real Talk" and "Pros and Cons", both served to teach conversational English to Korean audiences. I co-authored the Seoul National University English Board exams: the Listening Comprehension Section, while contributing to the content of a variety of ESL text books and workbooks on three continents.
Please do not hestitate to contact me at [email protected] should YOUR school/business currently have an opening.
Thank you. |

Delacosta, if you look carefully, you'll see that Kelly posted two different email addresses. My guess is that she left out the letter "t" in the second one. Try the first one in her posting. |

If you are looking for a position, may I suggest a shorter email address? Not only are you making typos, but imagine potential employers?? When searching for a job on the internet, email addresses really count. What good is having a great CV when you might have an email that is easily mistyped or one that isnt very professional, like [email protected]? If finding a suitable name is hard, I have free gmail invites for anyone, just drop me a pm. |

GG, you hit on a very important point there with the professional looking, short and sweet email addresses that can be understood by non native English speaking recruiters. This is one of the things that should be covered in Tesol training courses.
I also agree that Gmail is useful. After using it myself I have decided that it is very easy to stay organized (easy to search for messages) and there is a huge storage capacity. I have all but eliminated my use of hotmail in favor of Gmail. Gmail is easy to program so that you can use it for specific things and then have the new mail forwarded to your regular mailbox on arrival. Very handy. |

and another thing, don't use an aol address. When you leave the US, it won't be any good anymore. Using hotmail? It goes down without warning and it is painfully slow in many countries.
Another thing, send one email per job. You see so many people applying for jobs, they write one email and put every address they can find in one email. I have done some hiring in the past and if someone can't bother to send me an email of my own then they really aren't interested in the job. |

Here Here!
I remember debates we've had at work over whether or not we should bother to interview a couple of otherwise very strong candidates who had really hokey email addresses. |
