Does anybody have a karta stalego pobytu (something like a green card that's good for ten years)? What difference does it make in the eyes of the Polish goverment, business community, etc.? Do you have to pay more taxes? I am trying to buy a place in Poznan and as an American I need the green card to get a loan from any bank. |

As I understand it you need 5 years on a KARTA POBYTU TYMCZASOWY before applying for a KARTA STALEGO with good reason. The KARTA STALEGO is valid for 5 years max but can be renewed. If you are married to a Pole you can apply for a Karta Stalego after 3 years marriage + 2 years Karta Pobytu this application would be based on family ties to Poland. |

My karta stałego pobytu is good for 10 years and I'm not married. As far as I can tell (I just got it last February) all it means is that you don't have to deal with annual wnioski any more. My contact says that renewal, if I keep my nose clean, is a formality. |
