No not the fluffy cuddly type and not even turtles but the Public English Test System. I have been asked by someone if i could help train a few of his employees to pass this exam. The problem is i can not find any useful information on it. As far as i can tell it is strictly Chinese and by all accounts pretty simple. The only information i can find has all been in Chinese, which is a good start for an English exam.
I was wondering if any of you had come across this test before and if you have any useful info on it, or can point me in the right direction.
Thanks

I have several tomes of the PETS of three different levels. he books have obviously been designed and written by a CHinese, the English is so-so, sometimes substandard, sometimes above that.
It aspires to be similar in design to IELTS or TOEFL tests with all skills being tested, but I do not have a handle on how they do that. I trained several classes on how to interpret texts, pronounce and discuss while a CHinese teacher focused on grammar. I discovered that that CHinese teacher was not up to scratch, and the students merely practised pronunciation in my class.
I suspect the PETS is a mere window-dressing project designed to keep some tuition fees inside CHina that otherwise would have been spent on a course the student would take overseas.
In some cases, civil servants have to pass this test.

I was in one of the Foreign Language bookstores yesterday and saw copies (I assume old tests) of P.E.T.S. on sale. I am sure because I remember picking it up to peek inside thinking, "What is that?"

You might check out your local branch and see if they have any text books also.
