I wonder if anyone (Alex Shulgin?) can help me here.
I've committed to a contract until next September and have been told 8% of my tax will be going on health insurance. Reading through some previous threads it seems that foreigners don't have to pay health insurance. I questioned the company's accountant who told me that foreigners who are committed to Poland for a long time don't have to pay but foreigners on a short term contract do. He didn't qualify what "a long time" means but I guess it's something like 5 years or maybe life.
Does this sound right to you?
Are any of you paying health insurance and have you had any problems using it?
Thanks in advance. |

If you are you are covered for most things under that idea. If not then I suspect there may be some truth in the story, although if you geta job for I.H. no matter where your from they pay all your medical bills. |

Thanks for that.
I am an EU citizen. Does that mean I should or shouldn't have Health Insurance deducted from my pay? Unfortunately, I don't work for IH. |

I have heard of conscientious objection to military service. I never came across conscientious objection to the National Health Service before. |

Have you filled out your E111 form in your home country? If not then you have to pay where you are because your home gov. isn't paying on your behalf.
Could be wrong on the exact from number but that's what it used to be back in GB. |

I have the card (the old E111 form) so am in theory able to claim insurance from the UK.
I'm happy to pay insurance if I have to but from reading previous threads I have doubts as to whether or not I should be. If I am being insured by my own EU country do I really need extra insurance from Poland?
I guess my questions are a bit too specific and not many of you have had to deal with or think about this issue before. I'm still on the look out for some good advice if anyone has any.
Happy New Year. |

The only suggestion i have is to contact the Polish Health Authority and get the official line on it. Either that or ask them what to do with your E111 as regards insurance in Poland.
Sorry not to be more help but things here in Bulgaria are possibly quite different, especially because I'm resident here. |
